Wild & Wired WV returns for its second year as West Virginia’s Linux and open source festival, a free, community-centered event designed to introduce students, families, and tech enthusiasts to the world of open-source computing. Building on the success of the inaugural festival, this year’s event expands the hands-on labs where participants can try out different Linux distributions, customize their own systems, and learn how to take control of their computing experience. Attendees can take home a free Linux starter disc from our distribution library, along with a printed guide to help them pick the version that fits how they actually use a computer.
Throughout the day, there will be talks, demonstrations, and Q&A sessions led by local Linux users and open-source advocates. Topics include system customization, self-hosting, digital privacy, repairing and extending the life of older hardware, and how open-source software powers innovation around the world.
This event welcomes all experience levels, from complete beginners to seasoned developers, and aims to foster a community of curiosity, creativity, and digital freedom. Children and families are welcome.
